Pizza Cutter
round dipping sauce bowl
For the Mummy Dogs
- 1 8 oz tube crescent roll dough
- 8 of your favorite hot dogs
For the Spiderweb Dipping Sauce
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- mustard in a squeeze bottle
For the Mummy Dogs:
Open the tube of crescent roll dough and divide it into its 4 rectangles. Smoosh together the perforated lines that run diagonal through each rectangle so that there are now four solid rectangles.
Using a pizza cutter, slice each rectangle into 12 thin strips.
Working with one strip at a time, wrap approximately 6 strips of the dough around each hot dog. Spiral the dough from top to bottom, bottom to top, this way and that way, criss-cross, and so on until it looks like a certifiable mummy.
Wrap all 8 hot dogs and place them on a cookie sheet (I prefer to line mine with a silicone baking mat). Bake at 375ยบ F for 9 to 12 minutes (or according to the directions on your package of crescent roll dough), until the mummies are golden brown.
Remove from oven and serve warm.
For the Spiderweb Dipping Sauce:
In a very small round container (i.e. a sauce bowl), squeeze an even layer of ketchup (roughly 1/3 cup, but it can be any amount that you want).
Using a squeeze bottle of mustard (be sure to shake the mustard up first), squeeze a thin line of mustard around in a spiral on the top of the ketchup.
Using a toothpick, start at the center of the spiral and make a straight line-- moving to the outer edge of the bowl. Repeat this action 6 - 7 times (more or less depending on the size of your bowl) to make the 'spokes' of the spiderweb.
Serve with your mummy dogs.
